There is no deadline to make the entire SEPTA system and every rail system in the country ADA compliant.

The ADA law requires when you make improvements to a facility or structure it must be made compliant. If your just painting the building and re-paving the platform then it can stay "as-is", but once you legthen and make other improvements with a certain dollar figure, it must have ramps, elevator etc.

But look at Malvern and the new tunnel. The system of ramps is a skateboarder's dream, no high levels or partial high but they extended the platform. So you can get to the platform but you can't get on the train because they never put in a partial high level platform. Maybe it's not complete?

Its not like there hasn't been a push for station upgrades by the community.

Malvern just had all new tunnels, ramps, stairs, and parking. It actually looks like a whole new station from the road.

I wish it wasn't finished, but unfortunately all the stimulus money for the project has gone dry.

The area has been pushing Paoli Transportation center for YEARS and they are finally moving a long very slo w ly... It would be a whole new station. This comes from Township and local leaders just wanting something to get done.
Plus, Paoli Thorndale did get all new signage.

However, what exists is crappy. Its a shock that Paoli is in the condition it is in for how traveled it is. Not to mention St. Davids is about to landslide from the tracks into the parking lot...

Wayne and Croydon got high levels, but I was told that basically, SEPTA has to get Amtrak's stamp of approval for any station they plan to rebuild with HLP's, with freight high and wides being one reason. I know they got the okay for Levittown, but that is on hold now due to funding.

As for Fox Chase, Langhorne, (and Woodbourne), physical characteristics of the railroad and station layouts did not permit HLP's to be installed there.

What were those physical characteristics of the railroad and station layouts which did not permit high level platforms?

In the case of Langhorne and Woodbourne, only one platform, as outbound traffic has to board and discharge across the intervening southbound track (the CSX Trenton Sub main is to the other side of SEPTA's northbound track). As for Fox Chase, the pedestrian crossings for parking lot access on the east side, as well as the east side platform and center platforms between the tracks were the issue. All three stations have mini-highs, but returning riders who need use of those platforms at Woodbourne or Langhorne are advised to make their return trips to detrain at Neshaminy Falls.
