I was at the 2007 Breeders Cup, which had 69,584 attendees. They ran 2 extra round trips from NY, and 1 extra round trip from Bay Head. It was a disaster (but not as bad as the 2014 Belmont). There will be at least 60,000 there this year. I hope they do something. One advantage to the Haskell is that there is still sunlight for 2 hours after the race is run. In 2007, the train station was mobbed by thousands of people and it was pitch black. Nobody thought to rent some floodlights. One other thing- in 2007, parking prices were jacked up to $35 a car. Haskell Day prices are kept at the regular $4. Maybe that was a reason why the trains are packed.
