And the station is open! Three years (Pennsauken) since NJT opened a completely new station, and eight (Wayne Route 23, Mount Arlington) since one with commuter service to NYC opened.

15-20 years ago, who would have thought NJ Transit would have an 2nd station in the metropolis of Wood-Ridge bordering quiet residential streets and a brownfield, a Pennsauken Transit Center in an equally trafficked area, and a nearly useless Newark Light Rail Extension (Broad Street) all three combined that will likely ended up serving less than 2000 people a day and cost a combined $265 million just to build, not including operation.

And also would have thought at that point, we'd have 0 of the following
•No additional Penn Station capacity
•No MOM
•No Northern Branch
•No New Portal Bridge

Gotta love the jaded priorities that make our home Jersey.

2 and 3 are not priorities. 1 and 4 are important, but you know how much money they will cost.

Everyone:

News 12 New Jersey posted a news report about the new Wesmont Station - available from other Optimum Cablevision service areas on their
Channel 612 interactive service - and the video of the report contained a noticeable error: The station name was spelled "Westmont".
That is the reason this station should have been named "Liberty Square-Wesmont" so no one confuses it with PATCO's Westmont Station in
Camden County. This may become a problem confusing the two stations even though they are in different geographical areas of New Jersey.

I'm with you there, was just trying to come up with a few very useful projects that folks at one point thought were "done deals". It was a long time ago, but NJT and local polticos made it seem like HBLR to Vince Lombardi Park N' Ride (which will never happen now) was a certainty.

I say just name it Liberty Square and get rid of all this Wesmont/Westmont confusion! ;)

It looks like NJ Transit has a maintenance shop at the Wright facility, according to GOogle Maps.

NBC 4 New York presentation.
If 75 people have taken the train on Monday morning as the article claims, this station is destined for great success. Even 30 would be great for a station that has been open only for a week.
People moved in YEARS ago expecting this as an amenity for paying a premium rent. If 75 people didn't show up it would've been alarming.

I wouldn't call it a success on any level NJT seems to feel the same way no ceremony nothing. GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT

AFAIK, this is the only station on the Main/Bergen line with an overpass.

The parking lot is under construction with a few pieces of heavy machinery on site. The concrete foundations for the light posts have already been poured. It appears that the parking lot will look like the one at Plauderville. While NJT projects are never completed quickly, by the look of it, the parking might be ready in 30-60 days.

Has anyone seen any recent numbers for the ridership at the station? I saw about 10 people getting off a train the other night, but what is the total ridership?

New walkway has been poured. They even have a couple of benches for 'parking lot' watching (why they face the parking lot instead of the train tracks is a puzzle to me). It appears that parking lot pavement and light posts should be coming in short order.
