Again, the board does not get to decide which questions will be asked by contractors who haven't even bid on the project.

700+ questions means a big spec, a bad one, or contractors want to cross their Ts and dot their Is before bidding.

I've read some of the questions on some of the other RFPs. I genuinely wonder how these people are able to run a business. Some are clearly gotcha questions that attempt to get the agency to agree to subpar work.

Welcome to contracting in the NYC metro. When Suez got the Nassau County sewer system, a few folks I spoke to, who came from out west, were amazed the county ever accepted such sub par construction in some recent rebuilds.

One told me that on a startup walkthrough, if the customer saw that level of work out west, everything would be ripped out and rebuilt at the contractor’s cost.

If out west means California, I guess that's not surprising when you're paying 3-4x as much.

“Out west” means Ohio and Indiana and a few of those other boring states, where contractors are actually held to the contract.
