Everyone:Sunday 12/30/2012 was the last runs of the NYC Subway Nostalgia Train for this Holiday Season...

I rode these runs for the first time today and they were well received and well patronized...

Today's train was: (north to south-8 cars total) R4-484;R1-100;R7A-1575;R9-1802;R6-1000;R1-381;R4-401 and R6-1300...

I congratulate all of the NYCT employees and enthusiasts involved to make these events possible and I decided
to note Fan Railer's YouTube videos to show as an example how interesting these runs are...

Happy New Year 2013 to all! MACTRAXX

I made it yesterday for the last roundtrip from 2nd ave. This was my third venture on this special run and it sure doesnt dissapoint. Nothing like looking out the window to get a clear view of the tunnel. The train got up to some decent speeds, too. It runs very well and they seem to take good care of these vintage gems. I only wish Boston, where I am from, would take as much pride in their history as NY does. I hope they keep these special trips going for many years to come.

I agree there is nothing like the charm and vast underworld subway paradise like NY. I used to think it was fun riding on the Boston T having grown up there, but since going to NY and discovering your wonderful transit system I find ours boring and never head in anymore. Granted, Boston once had a charm of its own with a nice EL, subway, and streetcar system. Unfortunately, state government and T management butchered the transit system and reconfigured the Orange line into a boring ride. I am lucky enough to live 4 hours away so I can get a few trips in yearly to get my NY subway cravings in.
