Dcell: Keep in mind that any move to extend the 7 Line west under the Hudson River and Bergen Hill to
Hudson County and Secaucus would be many years away and have a multi-billion dollar price tag.

G/T mentions the internal problems between political and other transit agencies that may be encountered.
The most important need is just to the south of where this new route would be - renovating/replacing the
now 110 year old North River tunnels used by Amtrak and NJT. If one or both of these tunnels fails and has
to be closed down the NJ/NY commuter calamity resulting would be enormous...

If Bloomberg becomes President, subway extension to Secaucus becomes likely as he supported the extension when he was mayor. If President Trump wins a second term, the new Amtrak tunnels will maintain the current on hold status.

The Port Authorty wll NEVER approve of NYCTA Tunnel .
That's part of PATH's service territory, build a Path branch instead!

To the poster above, the political obstacles are more difficult than engineering and building the subway extension to Secaucus. Why does the public allow political infighting and political turf wars delay the construction of needed transit projects? We marvel that the original Hudson River Railroad tunnels were conceived, designed and built in a few years. We’ve spent more years studying new tunnels by comparison. Bloomberg was smart enough to have a concrete right of way built as part of the Hudson Yard development for future subway expansion and, if he becomes President, he may be the one to cut thru the political status quo and make service to Secaucus a reality.

Lived in the NY Metro area till the early '90's ,the political infighting was always there.never changes,
FYI Bloomberg has no chance , NOT national known or respected, is tainted goods thank to the current occupant of the White House.
Both are NY City residents
