I know that the Chicago L is plagued by speed restrictions due to track conditions. Are there any similar problems on the NYCS?

A while back there were speed restrictions on the Lex due to trackwork. But not a system wide problem.

Nope NYCT takes very good care of the Tracks and Train Equipment. I think they learned their lession from the 70's.
