My favorite subway car is the R142/A and R143 and the R62/A. I just love how the R142 sound when its comming to a stop, it sounds so damn cool.
I can't change my vote but I have been liking the R44s more and more. I think they ride nice, they are much nicer looking inside than the older cars, and they seem very powerful.

I have to say I kind of favor the R46s with the R40s a close second.

I believe the new R-160, due out next year, are replacing all the R-38 (1966-1967) and R40 slanted (1968-69)!

The R38's are likely to be replaced by the first option order of R160's. Some R40 Slants are likely to go with the first order of R160's but the rest of them would be retired with the remaining option orders.

R40 Slants are my favorite. I have childhood memories of riding them on the B to Coney Island...
From what I've seen (very few models, maybe 5), the R-142 is the most friendly. Different from the others, I easily learn where I am and I don't feel lost. Maybe that's specific for the 2 train.
