Except Woodside is way out in Queens. The 1/2/3 to 42 St-Times Square, 7 to Grand Central, then the 4 I guess is the best route [using the Lex Av IRT], and it stays in Manhattan. :-D
If I remember correctly, Isn't the (S) Shuttle closer to the 1/2/3 exit?

It should be. The shuttle and the 1, 2, 3 used to be part of the original IRT line right?

The 42nd Street shuttle and only the 1,2,3 line NORTH of Times Square is part of the original IRT Subway built in 1904.

The West side IRT 1.2.3 line SOUTH of Times Square was not part of the original subway. It was built later in 1918 under the Dual Contracts.
