Mott Haven where the Hudson splits off

MO is where Harlem splits off, and yes 129 is there for track inspections

One question Dutch, If MNRR has their own inspection train (The snow cars) then what's tge point i'd Sperry. Inspecting their tracks?

difference in testing, the Geometry gear on inspection train will check track bed, track allignment, banking etc, with lasers.
The Sperry car checks the rail itself for internal defects like stress cracks and weld failures with a type comparable by ultrasound technology

There has been a nice little bump near MP 19 on the Danbury... sounds like you hit a deer sometimes. I assume Spurry has been up there since last week.

Again your not listening OZNO , sperry has nothing to do with bumps.
Sperry cars only detect internal metal faults like cracks.
It does not detect anything related to trackbed.

Isn't the Sperry car an old NYNH&H gas-electric railcar or something?

It depends on what the car number was - see here - http://www.trainweb.org/elso/SPERRY.HTM

Gil, known as Bill somedays ...

UM, No. Sperry does nothing but rail defects by introducing sound into the rails themselves, much like sonar but they listen for a void instead of a solid object.

Geometry vehicles do the complete track structure using gyros and accelerometers for surface, alignment and grade, and they use a laser/camera pairing to check gage and rail profile.

I can always trust a Dutchman for good info.

Didn't realize rails were not part of the track.
