Hello and welcome to all. I administer this forum, and along with GirlOnTheTrain and Nomis moderate this forum.

This forum is for the discussion of Metro North Railroad (MNRR), formerly Metro North Commuter Railroad (MNCR), as well as the intertwined rail operations of Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) and those operated under contract for MNRR by New Jersey Transit (NJT) as noted below:

- Mainline divisions and branches thereof operated directly or contracted for by Metro-North such as West-of-Hudson Train to the Game, Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines operated by NJT
- Shore Line East service service operated by Amtrak east of New Haven and MNRR west of New Haven
- The Hartford Line, also known as New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS), operator to be determined upon initiation of operations.

Questions concerning specific employee conduct, fares, etc. should be directed to Metro-North. General discussion only on this topic is allowed.

Attached for your information is the photo policy (somewhat dated; source: LIRR History page). Display of photography on this site reasonably construed as trespassing will be deleted, and discussed with the member, possibly resulting in warnings and suspension/banning if we feel it was intentional. Many of us do it, I know; we can't sanction it here though. We ask that you respect the railroad's policies, and if questioned by police or personnel, in addition to discussing it here, to report it to the proper authorities if you feel you were improperly targeted. Again, please leave specific employee or personnel names out of it.

Please refrain from engaging in "flame-wars". If you see unnecessarily argumentative conduct, or flaming, please use the report function and do not respond. Responding just makes more work for us.

Please direct questions concerning the moderation to one of the moderators via the PM function. We'll provide guidelines for specific moderation concerning certain topics within that topic upon request, but generally, we want the discussion to be about the topic, not the moderation of the topic. That we prefer to handle separately via PM.

Additionally, although Jeff attached the document, photography is a popular topic - so allow us to reiterate so it doesn't come up a million more times.

In general: it is allowed in publicly accessible areas, no fancy equipment (i.e. tripods). Stay out of the way and off the right of way. It's a good idea to keep a copy of this letter printed out and with you. It's not a get out of jail free card should you be hassled by the misinformed, however it is helpful to have.
