NEW snow fighting equipment

Hi all! Saw pictures on NE Rail site of new T snow fighting machinery. One piece looked like plow/flanger on one end and snowblower on other end. cannot tell by picture if these are permintly attached or swaped out as needed? these pics were in No Andover. Any one care to discus? Know a lot on money was spent after 2015!

Those things, as well as a whole string of regular plow attachments, have been parked all in a row at Alewife MOW for the last month ready for action. Between storms you can get a good look at them from the Alewife Brook Pkwy. overpass next to the Red Line station.

saw a quick vidio on the local news of a snow blowing piece of equipment at work on last storm. was a light snow so it was really throwing quite a distance. News report said it was a new purchase, but, that was all.

Not quite in the new snow fighting equipment category...

On the way home this evening, as a gentle snow falls, the usual 6-car Orange Line pulled in to Ruggles Station northbound. But it wasn't the usual! The first car was cut-out, with the lights off. You say, just another disabled car in the consist, until you notice a red hose coming out the space between the front door set taped to the door threshold and down to the truck. Yes, it's a de-icer car!!! For those tracking car numbers it was 01296. To bad the lights were off in the car so you couldn't see the funnel and personnel pouring the de-icing fluid into it!

Did Mr Haywood get any kind of recognition bonus, promotion, etc? How come there is no photo in the newspaper article? Is the invention patentable? Can we scale it up to make a hi-rail bus to restore Arborway & Watertown lines?

How does this thing initially align itself to the rails? Do they hand shovel a patch, line it up & go?

We saw pictures of Chicago's fancy snow-throwing equipment. This is probably less expensive. Or they could borrow their equipment back from the Seashore Trolley Museum....
