The last report I heard from earlier today was the 1050 was running around on the Northside with the 1060 as a double header.

They've been trying to keep those rebuilds up north until they get a few miles under them. I believe every unit that comes back is going to Rochester for final prep work and then up north. At least that's I've observed from since these units have been coming back.

It was used on 837 tonight (11:00PM to Providence), so it's staying in Pawtucket for the night. Gotta think it'll be used over the weekend a bit.

Which by the way, how is it determined on what train sets are used on the weekend (since normally only one train comes out of each layover yard on each line)? Does the engineer just pick whatever set out of the yard he feels like operating? Is it an order from above? Some weekends you get the 8-car sets running around, others not so much.

Off topic but the crew doesn't just start it up and drive off like it's just an automobile with 6 campers on the tow hitch. The overnight mechanical crew will have one set serviced, inspected, started up, and tested for the crew to take when they get in.
