12/11 NETransit snapshot shows all of the leasers gone from the revenue pool with 310, 330, and 418 at BET un-assigned and 293 put on snowplow train duty for the winter. Executive decision, or coincidental temporary lull due to shop rotation, etc.?

(Also...yikes, eight -2C's in the shop. I hope that's for winter prep and not aches-and-pains.)

do they have enough units in service to meet peak service + spares? Still seems like an excessive number of units failing in service, like one a day. That's equivalent to your car breaking down 2-3 times a year. Also, the leaser units are old, so they must break down as frequently as the regular ones.

Readville switcher brought the 418 and 330 to the southside. Seen passing Yawkey at 12:15 AM

Armchair speculation here, but with all 40 HSPs in or close to service, we should be in much better shape for the winter. Trains will still have breakdowns, but it would seem like the numbers of spares should be way up (looking like about 25-30 best case scenario from the NE Transit roster page). At least in theory if the leasers are stored down in Rochester they can be brought back up if there's a major fleet shortage issue this winter, but it sure seems like barring something like a widespread new problem with the HSPs that's unlikely.

274 ran tonight and had a failure on train 273/274 in Reading. Not sure if it was cut tonight or will be in the line up tomorrow.
The control car with the 301 had an issue as well tonight and might be swapped out over night.

274 is not in service and the 293 is still with the snowplows inside BET.

1004 & 1014 left BET this afternoon on the Readville Switcher, presumably
headed to Rochester this coming week to join her sisters in storage.

What's still keeping 1118 and 1132 still hanging around the BET dead line while the other 4 retired Geeps rest in Rochester? Is that a pending move, or are they stripping those two for parts?

Don't know....probably parts donor...when I saw the 1118 the other day, it was missing
cab windows on the engineer's side!

Maybe they are running out of room down in Rochester! :)
