Looks like the 1056 will be the next one to go to Erie. Will it still have the MassDOT-themed paint on it?

The 1058 still hasn't been shipped to Erie from Middleboro as far as I can tell. And nothing, including the 2002, shows coming back from Erie too.

Is that what that means? Per NETransit "Prep for work Rochester: 1056." I believe if it was going to Erie it would say "1056-prep to send." I guess we'll see what happens.

I believe so, the 1058 was actually listed as "Prep at Rochester" before being moved over to "Prep to send". If the 1056 is sent out, maybe it will go along with the 1058?

The 1058 left last night on CSX B726-29. Not seeing anything on the 1056 as yet. And nothing out of Erie as of last night.

MBTA F40 Status Update 10/6/20:

There are 16 F40s in service that haven't been rebuilt to F40PH-3C:
6 non-rebuilds remain (1027, 1034, 1052, 1059, 1067, 1070)
2 Pan Am rebuilds remain, although 1056 may be the next one leaving for MPI (1056, 1062)
8 in-house rebuilds remain (1029, 1030, 1033, 1036, 1053, 1055, 1071, 1072)

There are 10 F40s that have been rebuilt to F40PH-3C:
1028, 1031, 1032, 1035, 1050, 1054, 1061, 1063, 1068, 1075

There are 11 F40s that are off MBTA property being rebuilt to F40PH-3C by MPI (listed in order of when they will be returning)
1074, 1057, 1065, 1060, 1066, 1064, 1051, 1025, 1026, 1069, 1058

1056 went back to Readville today on an extra. However the 1075 was brought down to Middleboro by the same extra.

The 1058 was delivered to Erie today by CSX. Nothing showing out of there.

I wonder if the order of return might get jumbled between the ones shipped from Boise to Erie and the fact at least four or five carbodies got sent
from Erie to Curry Rail in Holidaysburg, Pa.

I would guess that they'll start returning units within the next month, likely returning 2-4 at the same time. I'd imagine multiple are complete/nearing completion, as many have been out there for over a year at this point.

FYI folks, the 1056 has not been sent out yet. It is back into service with the 1527 5 flats set. Saw it yesterday on 025.

What I do know is that 1053 will be the next one to be sent out which will be the third in house rebuild to be sent to be rebuilt yet again. Not sure when anything will head back from the rebuild factory as I like to call it.

NETransit says the 1053 is awaiting repairs at BET. Keolis really needs to stop sending units to MPI if they expect to be able to run more trains with the new schedule effective in November. We're gonna be right back where we were a year ago with constant equipment shortages.

Just watch 1053 switch from awaiting repairs at bet to prep to send. Just like what happened to 1058 since they aren’t fixing them in house or Rochester anymore
