Metro's board will vote Thursday on the proposal to offer FREE parking at Franconia-Springfield, Hunginton & Van Dorn Street when the stations are closed this summer for the platform project.
This will encourage riders to ride VRE.
VRE riders are not happy that Metro charges a non-rider fee at Franconia Springfield. After all, VRE has free parking at all its stations expect Franconia-Springfield as Metro won't let them park FREE.

The free parking is projected to cost Metro about $2 million over the entire shutdown period.
