Earlier this week, Metro installed speakers on the outside escalators at the Capitol South station.
The speakers say "Please hold the handrail when using the escalators" "Don't let children play on the escalators" and "Thank You for riding Metro"
These escalators do not have a canopy to protect them from the elements

I’d much rather have the canopy, thanks. An indoor connection to the Library of Congress and the House office buildings would also be great.

The direct entrance into the Pentagon was shuttered prior to the events of 09 11 2001. With todays security theater, the likelihood of future direct entrances into the Cannon and or Madison buildings is highly unlikely. It would also be a challenging project to execute as the existing single entrance descends from the surface directly to the mezzanine.
