Virginia Railway Express (VRE) expects to be fully PTC compliant by the end of 2018. Currently, we are working with our implementation team, consisting of contractors and VRE staff, to complete required training, install communications networks and implement a system for crew initialization. VRE is also coordinating with our host railroads, CSX and Norfolk Southern, system interoperability and field testing to be completed later this year.”

Nope:

In response to a question from Mr. Smedberg, Mr. Allen stated that PRTC was not required in the sections of Amtrak territory in which VRE operates die to the slower speeds in this section.
