Yes, and very convenient. You could put something there and retrieve it at arm's length without getting out of your seat--and since it was at eye level you were less likely to forget something when you got up to leave the train.

Well after a retirement ceremony for the legacy cars, apparently some of the new cars are having issues. So the legacy cars are back in service- for now.

The legacy cars will be hauled to DC tomorrow, and then leaving out on a special Amtrak train Sat the 29th at 0500 headed south.

There is both a hand rail for fall protection as well as a luggage rack above that. It's a pretty convenient setup.
