I have seen the LDC 'wall' at Navy Yard, and it is helpful because it occasionally does display alerts and general messages, such as SafeTrack (*though it's still displaying the old timetable). I have also seen the platform models displaying ads, and I have mixed feelings. 4x the revenue is great, and they generally look better than the outdated ads that would sometimes sit there for weeks for events that had already passed. The only thing that annoys me is that they are sometimes incredibly bright compared to the dimly lit stations...though I guess that could be a 'plus'.
