NBC news is reporting that wmata has found a new general manager and is working out a compensation deal. The name is supposed to be released within the week. The person has transportation experience but is not a transit lifer, per reporting.

It really seemed very strange to me that they released a name before they had finalized a compensation package and gotten a firm commitment that the guy would take the job.

WMATA never officially released his name to the public before yesterday. His name only came out through leaks to the news, whether purposeful or what.
