I see, it was because of the smoke investigation and that's why it FTA wants to do a safety investigation about the smoke incident at L'Enfant Plaza among other things including the June 22, 2009 crash at Takoma Park station among other derailments in rail yards (eexample: a few years ago at West Falls Church Yardt

A report by NBCWashington states that the FTA investigation's report will be issued tomorrow. "An incredible 90 safety issues will be pointed out with Metro — 77 on the rail side and 13 on the bus side." And, "The report by the Federal Transit Administration will say miscommunication is leading to some Metro maintenance personnel showing up to fix problems with the wrong parts. The report will say that Metro's own central control center, which is supposed to go through a safety certification process every year, has not gone through that process in years. And the report will also point out systemic issues when it comes to proper training within Metro."

I laughed out loud when, at 29 seconds into the video, you see the screen of a rail controller and notice that no Silver Line is shown...I assume this is outdated footage ....one would hope.

We don't know that that individual is working a controller position, but I digress. It pretty obvious that the person charged with gathering the stock footage to be inserted within the standupper failed at making it all look like shot within the last few days.

Relating to oversight/safety, the Infrastructure and Public Assets subcommittee of the House Oversight and Reform committee held a hearing last evening with several people from WMATA (Requa, WMATA IG, WMATA CFO) and Dr. Dinh-Zarr from the NTSB as witnesses. At one point Chairman Mica basically threatened to take the system and auction it off to a private entity to operate (http://blogs.rollcall.com/hill-blotter/ ... ment/?dcz=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

It took and act of Congress and a signature from the President to create WMATA, It will require the same to do what Rep. John L. Mica is threatening.

FTA recently posted the new Safety Directive 16-2. You want to make the time to read through this in its entirety: http://www.fta.dot.gov/documents/FTA_Sa ... ctive_16-2_(12-15-15" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).pdf

This includes all TOC open items, NTSB findings, and other things FTA added from their on-site inspections.
