Now that's a good idea! (Although I wouldn't mind seeing the MP36's in marine service either ...)

Maybe they'll be on VIA someday also I wish the F40C instead of the MP36's ran on the BN.

I know the quote is old, but 408 is back on RI, at least it is the first time I have seen in a while. 408 was the only MP36 to run on RI today. 410's HEP went out yesterday on train #619, so it did not run today. 412 also did not run today, I'm not sure if 412 went back to MILW or if it still is on RI somewhere.

407

407 is still on BNSF and I saw it most recently two days ago. I thought it would go to RI when 401 arrived, but so far it hasn't happened.

I'm not sure if 407 will go to RI or not. With 408-411 and 202, 100-104 can be replaced. Metra has been saying for the last 2 years that they want to add one more express train from Joliet during rush hours. If they do add that train, I don't know if RI will need additional equipment or if Metra will modify the current schedule so the use of current equipment works.

i know what metra can do give all the 400s to helms get the f40cs back and then helm can give the to the up so there car run all 25 of them on a coal train and will not pull it with all 25 of them

They aren't any quieter in the cab, but I do like the way they sound.

401 hasn't been seen on BNSF since the end of October. Since it arrived on BNSF, it was the lead engine on train 1249/1283 with 184 behind it. 184 ran a fast 8-car express to Aurora several days ago and 401 is now MIA.

So RI is not really short of locos right now, however 102 ran an express train to Joliet earlier this week, which is kind of odd. Besides the MP36's, 202 should also be somewhere on RI. I have not seen it run to Joilet in over a month though. Train #411 is RI's double header, last Friday 410 & 412 were on that train. 151 with a F40PHM-2 have been running on the 6:15 train out LaSalle, don't know if it's still on that train.
Last I heard their are no MP36 on the RI I was in Joliet along the Rock on Thrusday and most of untis were Winnebeagos.

bones wrote:I have an idea. Assign all of the 400's to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. I've been running these pieces of garbage for a year and there aren't many of us who are impressed. An MPI version of the F40PH-2C would have been a better choice. I hear that the river boat in Elgin is looking for a good boat anchor.
If the 400's are anything like the Winnebago's, I'm sure that they are well received on the BN and the Rock. I can guarantee the this does not hold true up north.
I'll help you push them into the river also.

408 & 410 both ran yesterday on RI. I don't know if 412 went back to MILW or not, but I have not seen it in a while. RI will need at least 3 more MP36's if 102-104 leave RI like 100 & 101 did. Two of those should be 409 & 411.

Everybody keeps aying that 412 is supposed to go back to the MILW. My question is who started that rumor. As far as I know 412 belongs to the ROCK. The only unit in question so far is 401.
