What are the final production numbers for the SD70, SD70M, SD70MAC, SD75M, SD75I, SD90MAC, and the SD9043MAC? Also the F59PHI, DE30AC, and DM30AC?
I know http://www.hazegray.org/rail/product.htm has the numbers, but they say SD70MAC production numbers are around 666. The Field Guide to Modern Diesel Locomotives lists the number at 1007.

It appears to me that the production statistics section of that web site hasn't been updated in almost five years. The source of production statistics with which I'm most comfortable is the magazine Extra 2200 South. It is published rather irregularly; however when it does appear, its information seems to be more accurate than the information contained in most internet sites.

Is there any way I could find out the numbers without purchasing a magazine?

Terry, you asked about sources of information other than the magazine Extra 2200 South.

In my view, the internet counterpart to Extra 2200 South is "LocoNotes". This is the web site that I recommended to you six months ago in response to your "Dash 8s or 9s" post on the CSX Forum.

LocoNotes is an excellent resource. The only caveat is that you have to read the rules, remember them, and stay strictly on-topic, otherwise you'll get a very stern warning from the owner/moderator, and you'll be removed if you go off-topic again. I once got removed from LocoNotes for something really minor (and I was not given a warning first). I don't even remember what it was, and the owner didn't remember why he removed me either!

Anyway... LocoNotes can be found here:

Terry C:

In your question, you asked for "final production numbers". Remember, some of the classes of locomotives that you requested "final numbers" on are still in active production.

So, no matter how new the production data, additional units are still being produced. Thus, there will not be any final production numbers available for these classes until the last unit has left the assembly line and the class has been removed from the order information being distributed to railroad companies.
