EMD does not make air brakes. 99.9% of the air brake systems in use today and for the last 50+ years are going to be primarily WABCO brakes as well as New York Air Brake. Whether it's and EMD or a GE locomotive, you will find an air brake system by one of the those two manufacturers installed. The most common type is the 26 series brake system. From the 60's to the present, you will find it on the majority of what is out their. More modern loco's have gone over to a 30 type system.

EMD simply installs the complete air brake system the railroad who ordered the locomotive has specified. If you need troubleshooting info, you need to find out the manufacturer of the brake components and then search for that. The locomotive manufacturer is irrelevant.

Go to: http://www.wabtec.com/home.asp And email customer service. They can steer you in the right direction. They have a training division as well with excellent manuals.
