Greg McDonell's "Field Guide to Modrn Diesel Locomotives" (Kalmbach 2002) says that the Long Island's straight diesel-electric DE30AC and its dual-mode DM30AC have the same weight: 294,000 pounds each. This strikes me as a remarkable coincidence if true(*). Can anyone here confirm or correct these figures?

(*) For comparison, according to the same source GE's P32AC-DM outweighs the first series Genesis 274,400 to 262, 800, despite having a 12-cylinder engine that is 8,500 pounds lighter than the 16-cylinder engine in the "outdoor" Genesis. Dual-mode equipment is heavy.)
