NORTH PLATTE, Neb. KNOP-TV Union Pacific Railroad says their crew walked away uninjured after their train derailed near Hershey around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Union Pacific Spokesman Tim McGahan says the eastbound train derailed 14 cars that was hauling a mixture of freight.

The derailment put four rail lines out of service. Two of them reopened this morning.

That video is amazing. It's a miracle that the train stayed upright *and* on the bridge.

I don’t know if they re railed the units and took them to Armstrong, but the auto rack is now on the ground.

At one poin, at the Union Station parking lot, there were five semis, each loaded with 640 feet of 135 lb rail track pieces.

Virtual Railfan put together a video of their live feeds from SF Junction that was interesting first showing the derailment, then lifting the 2 partially jackknifed autoracks with cranes and placing them on the ground. They re-railed the other rack and the locos and brought them across the bridge. It looks like the derailment started at a crossover on the viaduct. It also shows 2 excavators tearing up the rails and ties and dumping them over the sides.

Fortunately no one was hurt.
