It's worth noting the seatrain was an interesting operation - it was a railcar ferry, but unlike the Chessie ferries on Lake Michigan, where entire trains (up to 34 cars) were rolled on/off thru the sea-gate on the stern, at Seatrain, a Shepard-Niles (once part of BLW) crane lifted each boxcar off the pier and deposited it thru a hatch in the deck of the ship into the hold, where it was rolled into position, with winches I suppose.
