1800-1802-2066-2302-2304-3040

The following are considered stored heavy bad order with no plans to make active:

All of the operating roster units are in service with exception of 3618 which is at East Binghamton for scheduled wheel change.

Thanks, guys!

16 in service units and 6 OOS units for a total of 22 units.

Is that enough power?

Should be 24 units.
27 total counting the three SD70's.

Kingfish listed:
3010-3012-3014-3016-3018-3022-3618-3634-3636-3020

1800-1802-2066-2302-2304-3040

The following are considered stored heavy bad order with no plans to make active:

1804-2062-2064-2012-3042-2300
That list is missing:
NW2 116, which last I heard was still technically a NYSW unit.

and SD45 3614, which granted is dead in Dansville and likely to never run again, but I also have never read that 3614 has been sold or given away or anything like that..

are 116 and 3614 still technically on the roster?

thanks,
Scot

From Al Gorney:

A ex P&W B23-7 was released today to CSX in Utica, NY from the Susquehanna Loco and Car shop today to go to the Finger Lakes Railway as number 2307. The unit was built as L&N 5125 in Feb 1978 and then to CSX 5125 before being sold to the P&W as 2213. It was traded to BDLX for a NYSW B40-8 in 2005 and now sold to the Finger Lakes.

B23 # 2212 will follow soon as 2306.

how come they're selling these units when they are short on local power?

 #453604  by scottychaos

Susquehanna never owned those particular units..
there have been several units stored/worked on in Utica over the years that were not NYSW units..

to clarify:

P&W 2212 - reported to soon become FGLK 2306
P&W 2213 - reported to soon become FGLK 2307

NYSW 2300 - GE B23-7 - Ex-P&W 2214
NYSW 2302 - GE U23B - Ex P&W 2208
NYSW 2304 - GE U23B - Ex-P&W 2207

GP20 2064 - Binghamton
GP38 2012 - ???

B23-7 2300 - ???

Al Gorney posted this last month:

Posted at LocoNotes:

Susquehanna's isolated Utica side looks more like the Providence & Worcester operation.

Five units in P&W paint are in the Utica shop or on the Utica branch.

Units B23-7 2213 and U23B NYSW 2304 (P&W 2207) are running local
UT-1 between Utica and Sherburne.

B23-7s P&W 2201, 2212 and NYSW 2300 (P&W 2214) are in shop undergoing repairs.

The P&W 2201 is going back to the P&W. The 2212 and 2213 are going to the Finger Lakes Railroad.

NYSW GP40 3042 is at shop awaiting truck repairs.

scotty you can pretty much remove 3614 from the list. Its never coming back. I had written to amp and asked about it, was surprised i got a response back. The guy stated that the unit was so far gone from repair it would've cost the nysw as much as it took to do 2 or 3 of the other units. Which i found strange cause the 2 newest 3018/22 were ex high hood NW units with no motors, pretty much just a shell and frame.

1804 and 2012 are MUed together in the dead line buried in the NYSW yard in Binghamton, surrounded by cars. No chance of them coming back to life.

2066 is under the bridge, dead.

2064 is being worked on.

***THE FOLLOWING IS A RUMOR***

They are selling the 4 axle EMDs for new GP38-2s. We'll see what happens. I know the GP18s can barely move anything on level ground, much less the dead ones.

Well if the rumor happens to be true then it looks like the GP18 era on NYSW will be history.. Let us hope they all don't go to scrap. :(

But then again this is all a rumor and we all know how untrue rumors can be!

well are they selling all the 4 axle power? I do like the gp18's, but can understand why they'de have to move them since it was a pain to get the 1802? back up and running with a new generator.
