FEC was recently sold to Fortress Investment Group. Fortress also owns RailAmerica and recently transferred some management from there to FEC, so it looks to me like they plan to keep it.

This was also dealt with previously (in regards to FEC "letting itself go") and is just a meaningless rumor. I'd be more interested to hear about where the rumor came from.

That having been said, it is not unheard of for the investment groups to shed properties after getting all that (they think that) they can get from them.
