Does anyone know if NS still taps coal out of the Hazleton area mines or has that been transfered to the R&N? I haven't been up there in years.

Hazelton is still NS they kept one track of the Lehigh Line so that thay can access this trackage. There was a rumor that this trackage would eventually be turned over to the R&N but that seems like it will never happen.

R&N goes up to the Jeddo Breaker near Eckley, PA. R&N usually runs the trains on Tuesdays and Fridays. They start out of Tamaqua, PA. They really don't push out much coal anymore. I know R&N brings about 10 cars of domestic coal down on Tuesdays and Fridays and on Tuesday the brings about 25 loads of Culm for the Panter Creek Cogen at Nesquehoning, PA. Hope this somewhat helps with the area.

Take Care.

The last ramp in Hazleton besides Jeddo closed about a year ago so the RN is the only carrier of anthracite in the area. NS does control both industrial parks in Hazleton though, and those are big customers.
