I’m curious if Pan Am crew is picking up the train in West Springfield yard (are they qualified on that short section of B&A?) or is CSX coordinating a handoff by the station or another location nearby?

Is West Springfield still an active if rarely used interchange, or have provisions been made due to the detour needs?
My understanding is that the CSX RJED detour trains out of Selkirk to date have been pulling east of and shoving back through CP-98 onto the Conn River via track 11 (north wye) for the ST (PAR/PAS) crew to tie on and head north.
Yep, that's the move I saw/heard the other day. Close to noon time on Th or Fr. Other than radio chatter not much to distinguish it other than one of those blue trash or recycling containers.

Some other distinguishing telltales of an RJED detour vs. PLED besides the garbage car(s): Omya cars, loaded centerbeam lumber cars; covered hoppers; compressed springs indicating loads where there should be decompressed springs indicating empties and visa versa.

Here's a scan of a color print of a GRS EDSP train at Springfield backing across the Conn River into W Springfield yard. Not sure of the date but likely the time frame is early to mid-'90s.

Yes.

There was another RJED yesterday through S. Deerfield just after 1500 with 90+ cars.

Happened through SPG today about 9ish and saw a line there, no mistaking the PAR boxcars. Looked to be CSX power pointed North, assumed it's the power PAR bought from them with the logos crossed out. Radio chatter was along the lines of Springfield Terminal to ex-425, they headed North maybe around 0930.
