"FEC" 1594 is an E9 that is ex-PRR/MBTA and was never actually an FEC unit. It's kept at a railroad museum in Florida. Just curious if they ever fire it up and run it. It's a stunner.

Edit: They sure do, although it appears such is rare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsfXfG7nUhY

I love the sound of those twin n/a V12s.

The FECRS convention a couple of years ago made a bus trip to the Gold Coast Museum where this engine is located. They were running it that day although at that time it was running on one engine. One engine was enough for a short trip down the spur to the interchange with CSX. During the early period of Penn Central this particular engine was a regular on the Shore Line between New Haven and Boston where I had a chance to run it a couple of times. The Florida East Coast never owned any E-8's, they had other E units including 5 E-9's numbered in the 1000 series.
