I'm taking a trip to Florida in April and I was wondering about the status of the track project described in this news article:

http://www.tampabay.com/news/transporta ... pa/1207672
CSX Railroad is planning to replace tracks along Polk Street, which will mean intersection closings at Ashley Drive, Florida Avenue and six other streets in the heart of downtown Tampa.
The article goes on to say the work was to begin February 6 and continue for twelve weeks. Unless my math is off or the work was rescheduled, that means their still in the midst of construction. Not that I was expecting to see a train anyway, as trains were said to travel "nightly."

Oh well, there still aren't too many major downtowns that have street running in them.

I agree there are not too many places where street running still take place but in Clearwater the track run down the middle of East Avenue. No more Amtrak but a local freight to St. Petersburg still does this trackage, not sure whether it is every day or not.

Not to turn this into a thread about street running, but I can assure you that it is alive and well in Ocala, FL, as evidenced in the first half of this video.

Check out the MP in the second half of the video, 773. Guess that's from Richmond, VA as this was formerly SCL trackage. Of course, passenger routings involving street running are another matter, but I'm sure they exist.
