As of Feb. 2012 what class of units are holding down the helper assignments on Sand Patch? I would like to know both the east and west helper pools if they are different? It has been a bit since I last visited and they were using SD50s during that visit. I'll bet these units have changed.

Are these assignments pretty standard now?

Someone else could better answer as I live in NY State, but I'm going to venture that helper's
may be less prevalent on the grade than they used to, as locomotive power and tractive effort
has improved over the years.

Yes, the SD-50s have dwindled, but I'm sure some type of power is assigned in Cumberland and
Connellsville, PA.

No they still use them, even have a westbound ore train running these days. Wanting to know if they are CWs or something better?
