Looking at http://www.trainweb.org/csxphotos/ I noticed that number slots 2580 through 2608 were void of active GP38-2s. From what Utahrails.net listed the Geeps were sold in 1993, put into lease service, acquired by Southern Pacific, and then Union Pacific. All of this occurred because CSXT did not renew the lease, or I am I missing something? One unit did not end up on Union Pacific, but is a switcher for a southern factory. Did other units not make it to Union Pacifc as well?

When the lease expired on this particular group of GP38-2's CSX did not purchase the units and they were returned to the owner, Helm leasing, who subsequently leased the units long term to the Southern Pacific, with the units eventually becoming UP units after the UP tookover the SP.
