In case anyone missed the announcements, the 2015 trains are starting their annual runs. The U.S. train is in N.Y.S. today (Saturday, 28 Nov) and will finish this leg tomorrow.

It's that time of the year again. Thanksgiving weekend, the train will be in NYS (Sat & Sun). With those familiar with the area I have a few questions.
I plan on taking the family up to Saratoga to see it. Driving up from NYC. I notice that on Saturday, it's scheduled for two stops, first in Mechanicsville and then in Saratoga. After everything is over in Saratoga, where will the train tie down for the night?
What frequency would be best to monitor for the CP holiday train? And for Amtrak?
I plan on getting up there for about 3pm. Park at the Amtrak station and just wait around. Does anyone think that'"LoL be a problem?
Thanks all. Much appreciated for any answer.

D&H road is 161.1 and the last I checked CP was still on that (i.e., last year's train).

The train will probably lay-over during the day on Saturday in Kenwood Yard in Albany: last year it was holding at the northbound home signal and departed at about 5:30 p.m., all lit-up. This year the home signals have been moved south to the north end of the yard, so it will probably sit in the yard at the north end.

Last year I chased the train to Mechanicville with no problem, arriving in Mechanicville ahead of the train. As you will be passing Kenwood on the way from the City to Saratoga you could see the train several times, unless you really want to be in Saratoga for four hours.

There is a substantial yard in Saratoga, so it would be a good bet (better than the nearby ponies) that it will spend the night there.

Thanks doc, much appreciated. I also found 160.530 for the yard so I will have that on as well.

Got to Saratoga at about 605. Access to the station's parking lot was restricted due to the Polar Express. But the police said you can either wait till 630 when the polar express crowd leaves or you could park in the store's parking lot and walk. We waiting till 630 and decided to do the walk. Wasn't that cold. Parking lot opened around 7pm. Glad we walked. Much easier to leave.
Very organized, crowded but a great time and the kids loved it.

The train was tied down right at the Saratoga Station last night.
