Does anyone have any speculation? With a slowing economy will the big four be on the move? Expansion may be cheaper today than last year. Does CN expand? what makes sense for CN/IC?

Thoughts?

Do you guys think CN (Chicago National) has got their eye on KCS? For the price 1.7B and some change...CN would have the true North American Railroad. Mexico, US, Canada. That main line would have more access to growth and goods and population than Thunder Bay to Hinton Alberta.

Looking at logical expansions?

Lots of debt on KCS's part. Debt makes an unattractive merger partner, and I'm sure that was equally attractive to KCS's business case for buying TFM, etc... They want to remain separate.

I think the unions generally know how CN runs things with their current management ... and while the management of any other railroad might like to have Mr. Harrison at the helm slashing costs, the unions will fight it every step of the way.

There have been no announcements of any such merger.

Let's move on to some more productive conversation.
