BN bought a number of SD40-2s from GMD in Canadia. Were these built to US or Canadian specs?

(UP had a few SD40-2s built to Canadian specs for operation on the former Spokan International, and considering that BN also had line that connected with CP I guess it it not too unlikely they would've ordered Canadian-spec'ed SD40-2s. Or were they ordered from Canada just because EMD didn't have capacity?)

this group of units was built to the same specs as other BN SD40-2's. The only reason this order was built by GMD was due to the fact that EMD LaGrange was booked solid at the time and GMD had the available capacity so the order was farmed out up north.

Diesel Era Magazine did a two part article about BN's SD40-2 fleet. Look on their page to find a back issue.
