Amtrak's 40th Anniversary Train is now Amtrak's Exhibit Train, as shown in photos by Matt Donnelly on railpictures.net

I guess this answers the question of "what's next?" for the exhibit train. Apparently, according to Matt,
The inside has been revamped by a team of dedicated employees that updated, transformed and added a slew of new displays. The 40th logos are gone and replaced with "Amtrak Exhibit Train" branding. This train will be making its first public debut since being redone at Fullerton Railroad Days 2013, May 4 and 5.
Looks cool! I wonder what they did to the inside.

It's in Chicago's 14th street coach yards as of tonight, Sunday 4/28. I saw it from Roosevelt Road, it's on the far-east track along the river where PV's and random stuff are usually parked out of the way.

Good to see that they've redone it now that the 40th anniversary has concluded. Wish it could come back to NY City soon!

If you are looking for some interior shots, I found this video a few days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQOSnA4k ... ata_player

Nice catch! That is how the interior looked at ABQ last sat,got some shots but got "elbowed" by a family behind at times,
The control stand may have been from a SDP-40-F/F-40,the Horn display worked as intended.
Waiting line to enter was as long as the line to get on the BNSF E-44c4 on display, avg wait was 20-30 mins
groups of 10-15 people were allowed to board to allow time to view the cars, the entire train was a job well done
by all the people involved.

The Lineup on 383 track was 406and the exhibit train,2926's tender coupled to 822, BNSF Evo 44c4 6805,2 car NMRX display/protect set.

This train is supposed to be on the head end of 7(17) with the 406 and 42 for a little tour out west.

FYI:

Amtrak Exhibit Train to be open for tours at Strasburg Railroad

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index. ... e_ope.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A brief fair use quote:

Amtrak’s free Exhibit Train will be at Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster County again this weekend, and will be visiting Gettysburg and Altoona in coming weeks.

The exhibit will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 21-22 at Strasburg Railroad, 301 Gap Road, Ronks.

The Exhibit Train features displays that include workable signals, virtual sleeping accommodation tours, a locomotive control stand and horns. It also includes photos, uniforms, vintage advertising and memorabilia from the beginning of Amtrak in 1971 to today’s modern sleeping cars and high-speed rail service.

The Exhibit Train will be in Gettysburg Sept. 28-29 at the Gettysburg & Northern Scenic Depot, 106 N. Washington St.; and Oct. 12 at the Norfolk Southern Rose Yard, 200 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.

Section Break. They are not supposed to park engines there, or raise pantographs there or something.
