As of last nite, Kodak's response to the threads on photo.net re K64 is they have NO plans to discontinue it. If you use the USPO, send it to: Kodak Mailer Processing. c/o District photo, pob 3640, Hampton Park Md. 20791 where it will be forwarded to Dwayne's in Ks. Fairlawn will close in about 3 weeks & some of the work may already have been changed over.

FWIW

E-6 will be processed at District/Maryland, K14 will be processed at Parsons, KS/Dwaynes. IF YOU SEND KODACHROME STRAIGHT TO DISTRICT PHOTO, YOU ARE JUST ADDING PAIN AND SUFFERING TO YOU'RE ALREADY WRETCHED EXISTENCE. Most of Kodak processing is sent to a regional sorting center, so if you put the film in a Kodak processing envelope, mark that it's slide processing, and put "K-14" on the outside. If you are really, really, really paranoid, put your name, address and phone number on a standard piece of printer paper and put that in your camera bag. Take one picture of you name and address on each roll you send in...c'mon you can waste one shot the other 36 will be perfect! Now you're shipping info is on your film, so hopefully iif it does get lost, it will be easier to trace. If you send K14 to District you will be sending it to people who won't process it, and may not be in a major hurry to correct the percieved error. Be aware that in the best of times, slide shooters were only about 3 percent of the photographic market, and that market has been dropping by about 1/3 every year since 2000, so at this point we should all be thanking our lucky stars that either, much less both comapanies(green and yellow)is willing to provide the products and processing we clamor for.....

If you used Kodak's courier service thru Target/Walgreen's etc, forget it. The Kodak regional ctrs. won't /don't forward it anymore. Learned that the hard way this week when a roll was returned to the store. I complained & had a call back from a Qualex rep who verified the above. The only route outside of Walmart who sends to dwayne's for K14 is to send the mailers to District Photo, 10501 Rhode Island Ave. Beltsville Md. 20705 which is a different address from the 1 I posted earlier. Some posters on another forum sent to Fairlawn not knowing it had closed but got their film back in about 2 weeks. Hopefully things will work out but I still have reservations about District.

Just got a roll of K64 back from district/Dwayne's & have to say the work appears better than NJ. Slides were cleaner/a bit less contrasty w/better shadow detail. Color was fine. Sent 12 days ago from WNY in pp mailer so return is'nt too bad. According to an EK rep, you can still use the courier service thru Target etc w/o a mailer for faster return time.
