I went to Kodak's web site and took a look at it. The main thing you would need to beware with that camera is that it doesn't have an optical zoom; it only has a digital zoom, which means the camera basically crops/magnifies the image digitally to give the "effect" of zooming in closer to the subject. The result is mediocre at best, and most likely the image would not be accepted by railpictures.net, nor would it be good enough to print.
This camera would probably be fine if you only want to take pictures of, say, museum locomotives -- where you're able to get up close without fear of trespassing -- but if you want to take train pictures out in the real world, you really need a camera with an optical zoom (preferably at least 4x).
I assume you're looking at the C300 because of its price (it's selling for around $100-$110 right now). Unfortunately you're not going to find a digital camera with a decent optical zoom in that price range; however, if you can move up into the $150-$200 range, there are plenty of excellent cameras with optical zoom to choose from. The ones I would recommend, in order of preference, are:
1. Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ2 - $200-$210
5 megapixels
6x optical zoom with image stabilization
2. Canon PowerShot A520 - $170-$180
4 megapixels
4x optical zoom
3. Kodak EasyShare Z700 Zoom - $170-$180
4 megapixels
5x optical zoom
4. Fujifilm FinePix A345 - $150-$160
4 megapixels
3x optical zoom
5. Canon PowerShot A410 - $130-$140
3.2 megapixels
3x optical zoom
