whew, thank you alcoman. I'd hate to see 469 see the scrappers torch. Where abouts are the three units? Im presuming they are somewheres other than the Lake State Railway, maybe in a Locomotive Leasing agency?
Thanks for the reply

The 3 units are supposed to be off Lake State property by the end of June. I am not sure where they will go as Waymore Power does not have a rail siding as far as I know.

for those who hae this months Trains Mag, it lists that the LSRC is keeping some ALCos to take the new traffic burden while newer GP40-3s are brought to service, Most the C424s and 2 M420Ws kept, but D&M RS2 and 2 other RS3ms didnt make the cut. It was said that those units are off the property and ethier are going to scrap or some other railroad.
I can care less about the RS3ms, we have qn abundance of them, its just the RS2 im concearned about, that is THE last RS2 in operational service. Anybody from Michigan know its whereabouts now?!?
I wouldnt want that to go to Scrap!!
Sean

An abundance of RS3m's?? where, cause i'd sure like to know. these are low now RS3's and i'd kill to see both of them saved. The RS2, well i'm sure it will be saved. However!!!, all three ARE still on the property at LSRC with the 974 and 469 still in Saginaw and the 975 in Alpena. None have left yet as of last week and nothing has been done. When they finally leave, i'll believe they are sold.. when they are running again.. i'll believe they are safe. Also.. MLW's 3515 and 3504 are down for the count i'd say. Only M420's 798 and 3500, which sounds horrid right now, are running. Also.. LSRC does not have C424's. 2 are C425m's 281 and 381.. and 2 are C425Mac's 1280 and 181.

take care guys..

from what a buddy of mine from here tells me.. the 469 and the 974 were sitting near the Saginaw yard tower on Sunday.. so they might be getting ready to ship them out. i'll try to keep everyone in touch as to the movements of these units as I get time.

On another list, it was said that the 469 and 974 were sold to the Delaware -Lackawanna. Any truth to that ?

So, the deal with waymore power fell through. So A member of my site spoke to the CMO of the LSRC and he reports that the DL&W has purshased the units in question. 974 and 469. I DONOT know if this is truth or rumor, but its sure worthy of being put up here. They are all still on the property and have not moved a wheel. I'll update as I can and try to find out some truth in the process.

Dan from the MSN group reports:

Just visited the Saginaw Yard today, the number to obtain an entry permit is 989-757-7560 according to the sign at the Wadsworth entrance.

974 and 469 are sold. SBS will be storing them until spring they need some work before they can be moved,

3515 froze last winter and is having parts salvaged before scrapping.

well..the 3515 isn't being scrapped YET.. but parted out as needed. word has it 3504 is getting new trucks..

469 and 974 are indeed sold.. I was told to the DL&W but due to the nessasary repairs needed to move them.. LSRC has agreed to store them untill spring. I'm hopeing they picked up the 975 too.
