Is there a website out there that has a list of classic train cars for sale? Like those cars from the Super Chief, California Zephyr, El Capitan, etc. Did most of those cars survive or were most of them scrapped? Thanks

Basically what happened to all the cars of the streamlined days of passenger trains. Did they end up in museums or were they scrapped?

Yes.

There were thousands of passenger cars from the "classic" era, many have been saved in museums, some are still working for Amtrak and VIA! Many were indeed scrapped when new equipment was purchased for Amtrak.

If you are looking for specific cars, please let us know.
