Of particular interest at IRM is their extensive interurban collection (some operable) Collection includes the original "office car" and observation car trailer used by the Illinois Traction 'brass'. The North Shore articulated Electroliner, South Shore "little Joe", and many other 'one-of-a-kind' types of equipment.

IRM has done a marvelous job of obtaining, restoring and maintaining rail and transit equipment that otherwise would have been lost to the scrap heap.

While in the area, the Fox River Trolley Museum in S. Elgin is worth a looksee as well.

IRM is a good group come on down adn check them out. If you can come when Silver Creek and Stephenson is running and then run up to Mid COn it would be a real good trip for you.

FYI, the recent rains forced them to cancel their "Thomas" week-end.
They have been raising much of the ROW so rumor is that not many cars got their feet wet.

My understanding that of the five originally scheduled Day Out with Thomas days, only one was postponed due to the rain. They still had five DOwT days, just the one being rescheduled.

I've visited IRM a few times; great place.
