Athearn was a volume manufacturer. They made large runs of their items per year and thus kept there prices down. Is Horizon trying to make it a smaller-run exclusive model supplier which would increase prices? What seems to be going on is rather chilling, once you price yourself too high, people cut back on their purchases. How many of you remember penny candy and how you would pick and choose based on cost, quantity per penny etc. That's how people will buy and this will only hurt Athearn sales. As prices shoot up, sales will shoot down and since mail order is now out, we'll be paying close to retail - no way! Horizon has killed about half the Athearn sales outlets. What were the people at Athearn thinking?
