Hi,

Just got an N scale Intermountain 40T, in SP Speed lettering. Any comments on the model in general?

Also, looking at photos of real 40Ts it shows the high headlights removed and blanked off with ditch lights added, also the large lower light has been removed. The horns are also mounted on the long hood behind the dynamic blister.

The model has cab mounted horns and both high and low headlights, so the question is; is the model wrong or when did UP/SP change the locos arrangement adding ditch lights etc.

The model is correct for the locomotive as delivered. Prior to the ditch light requirement law SP used gyrating headlighting in the high position, with regular headlight in the low. Above the regular lights was a single red gyrating light for emergencies.
