Old CNJ station on Broad street in Newark has a for sale sign on it. I think the facade is in the history registry so it can't be torn down. The building is now just a shell and would need a complete rebuild. And the row from behind the station to the bridge over the NEC has been oblitereated by new buildings. Anyone have a few million laying around?

Unfortunately, the station building itself is long gone, and the land built upon. All that remains is the facade and a 100 foot long portion of the hallway beyond it through which passengers walked to and from the station and Broad Street. With respect to being listed on the national and/or New Jersey State historic registers, a private owner is entitled to demolish the building at its sole discretion. The building is only protected if the owner requests and accepts government funding for some aspect of the building.
