Anyone out there having information on the LV Passenger line through Ithaca, N.Y. I've been looking for any 8-16 mm movies of the passenger line in Ithaca and North to Geneva Junction. I saw a brief movie from a TV special through a Syracuse NY TV station from LV employee, William Mclane/Hope I didn't botch his name!

I have the LVRR book authored by David Marcham-Dewitt Historical Society-Wonderful!!

Many Thanks!

Marc,
another excellent book about the LV in Central NY (including photos and other info on Ithaca specifically)
is: "The Gangly Country Cousin, The Lehigh Valley's Auburn Division" by Herb Trice.
very good book!

And here are a few older threads about Ithaca:

Thanks Scot!

I forgot about that book. Have it in my collection also! My parents house is across the street, Rt.13, from the coal & salt line. Recall the LVRR Sw's "Pups" hauling coal cars to NYSE&G late 60's early 70's. Wish I had my camera back then!

Someone out there has to have taken their Kodak Brownie, i.e, out and captured the LVRR passenger trains in and out of Ithaca, late 50's!

Marcus,
I have never come across any Ithaca movies on-line..
im sure some must be out there though!

best-bet would probably be the Cornell Railroad Historical Society:
http://www.lehighvalleyrr.com/

they might have some movies in their collection..

Thanks Scott!

I've already made contact with several members, over the years, and was referred to David Marcham. No movies just photographs!

I still have family in Ithaca. My sister lives on the hill facing the old LVRR passenger depot! Now, A Trust Company!!

William Mclane, has a 5-6 minute skit on u-tube regarding railroad memories. This has a short section in Ithaca at the depot!

I believe Mclane lives in or near Auburn. Have no other info, i.e, address or phone.

Best Regards,

Mark

The Rochester, NY NRHS chapter has in their library a film by the late LVRR locomotive engineer Clyde Redfield a film taken from the cab of a G-E car of the Ithaca branch.

Boy would I like to see that, It goes right thru my old stomping grounds, Geneva to Ithaca. Never have seen much footage of this line, except photos of the stations in Romulus, Hayt's Corners, Interlaken, and Trumansburg.Would Love to see a train crossing the Taughannock Falls Bridge if one exists, but doubt I ever will.
