Time for something interesting from across the pond (Atlantic Ocean). This time our Pro Rail member from Poland, sent us some recent Trainspotting clips he took while he was on vacation. All of these trains were taken on Poland’s most known and most famous railway line. Which is owned by the PKP LHS Railway. PKP LHS (or PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa sp. z o.o.) is a company in the PKP Group responsible for the Broad Gauge Metallurgy Line, running for 394.65 km (245.22 mi) from the Ukrainian border in Izow-Hrubieszów to Sławków Południowy (near Katowice).
In 2004 the line had an average 6.4 trains daily, transporting about 10,100,000 tons of freight annually. Motive power consists of 77 diesel locomotives. Additionally, the company has 96 wagons, 50 wide-gauge cars and 168 normal-gauge cars in its possession.
The company was founded in 2001 after splitting Polskie Koleje Państwowe or PKP for short(the national rail operator) into smaller companies. For more information about this railway. Here are some links to the following:
